Spring Island - The River House Area

Spring Island is a 3,000 acre island located near Hilton Head and about twenty miles from Beaufort, South Carolina.  The land has a rich and diverse quality of both wildlife and natural vegetation.  The island has 500 residential lots, and was designed with the theme of Nature Park.  A majority of the island is preserved as a wildlife refuge.

The goal of the project was to create a place for the residents’ enjoyment which took advantage of magnificent views but looked as if it had been there for years.  The architecture was designed to resemble an old fashioned fish camp with various buildings and spaces.  The design created a building and site broken into small spaces around existing live oak trees.
