The purpose of the Monarch
design was to set a standard for multi-family high rise development
that is sensitive to the fragile beachfront environment. The
Architectural Review Board had blocked development on this last Sea
Pines site for many years because no one had designed a project
innovative enough to protect the maritime forest and preserve the
dunes. The owner
wanted to develop 120 units in five story building on a 5 1/2 acre
site with impressive and exciting amenities. Each unit had to
have a beach view and experience the excitement of the ocean and
amenities. The client was adamant that the project be
aesthetically pleasing and enhance the site rather than conflict
with its natural character. Amenities included swimming pools,
natural lagoons, boardwalks, entertainment shelter and more. |
