Marvin
Park, on the USC Salkehatchie Campus in Walterboro, SC, is the
centerpiece of a master plan for the future growth of the local
branch of the University of South Carolina. The park is designed
for student use as well as community events and gatherings. The
park, in a central courtyard, ties the existing buildings together
and provides a pleasant space for students and members of the
community.
The park
includes an outdoor classroom, a large deck for gathering or use as
a stage, and a traditional water feature designed as a focal point
for the park. Benches and swings line the brick walkway which
connects the different elements of the park.
The park
is home to many community events including the Rice Festival Finale,
Fabulous Fridays, and various summer camp programs. |
