Callaway Gardens Visitor Center

The Virginia Hand Callaway Discovery Center opened February 21, 2000, on what would have been Virginia Callaway's 100th birthday. From the earliest plans, the Callaway Discovery Center was intended to blend in with the natural surroundings and make the most of the resources that went into building it. The 2.5 mile long Discovery Parkway winds through natural woodlands leading to the Discovery Center.  The center itself contains 35,000 square feet of space dedicated to educational facilities, museum space, a restaurant, and a gift shop.  A wooden bridge skimming the surface of the lake connects the Discovery Center to the bike trail system running through the gardens.
